EAMCET 2015: 12 more days left to apply with fine up to Rs 1,000

The first-ever Eamcet conducted by the Telangana government has received an overwhelming response from students in both the Telugu-speaking States. As of Thursday, the last date for submission of online applications without fine, the TS Eamcet-2015 received 2,26,994 applications in both engineering and medical streams. The number is likely to go up with 12 more days left to apply with fine up to Rs 1,000.

This year, there has been a sharp rise in applications for medical and agriculture stream. If 50,000 applications were received last year, this time, the figure has increased to 89,434. Around 20 per cent of the applications in medical and agriculture stream have come from Andhra Pradesh alone, JNTU officials said. Interestingly, female candidates have dominated medicine applications this year. Out of the 89,434 applications for medicine and agriculture, 57,414 are female candidates.

However, students from AP will be eligible only for 15 per cent of seats under the non-local quota, Telangana State Council of Higher Education has clarified. A number of applications for the limited seats is going to make it difficult for AP students to secure seats in Telangana colleges. They will have to write the test in Telangana as there are no exam centers for TS Eamcet in AP.
