Telangana EAMCET 2015: Age Limit for TS EAMCET

Candidates as old as 36 years have also applied for the Telangana Eamcet, which is scheduled for May 14. Nearly 100 applications from aspirants aged above 30 have been received, but an overwhelming majority of them will appear for the medical stream.

The average age of the rest of the students is 17-18 years. The national entrance tests like the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) have upper age limits, most commonly 25 years, but the Eamcet never had an upper age limit.

Undergraduate engineering and medical aspirants generally appear for the 0entrance tests at the age of 17 or 18, and finish engineering by 21 or 22. Medical students also generally graduate at 22, but could also do so later, depending on their admission age, considering the dearth of medical seats.

This year, for the Telangana Eamcet, the oldest would be two 36-year-olds, one taking the engineering test and the other, medical. About 1,800 aspirants aged above 25 will appear for the examination the Joint Entrance Examination.

Officials said they are verifying the credentials of all candidates with help from the Intelligence Department of the state police and genuine candidates will be allowed to appear for the examination irrespective of their age. A total of 2.31 lakh students have registered for the Telangana Eamcet this year.
